When the 72 disciples returned after Jesus had sent them out, “they returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.’”
Jesus’ immediate response was to acknowledge that he had, indeed, “given them authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all power of the enemy. “However,” he said,
"do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
The apostle Paul, who described himself as an “ambassador in chains,” also tells us that, “our Citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” and that we have, in fact, already “been raised up by God and seated with Jesus in the heavenly realms.”
