If one sentence could sum up what may be, perhaps, our greatest ongoing faith struggle, it would be the title of this entry taken from Matthew 6:25.
Jesus begins in verse one of this chapter, though, by first warning his disciples of the consequences for calling attention to their faith through public spectacles,
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Accordingly, areas of stated concern include giving to the needy and prayer, but apparently prayer is of such vital concern that Jesus finds it necessary to provide us with the specifically prescribed prayer we now refer to as the Lord’s Prayer. It would appear, however, that the heeding of these warnings, based on our present-day public practices, does not seem to be of much concern to us.
