Dear Friends, Ministry Partners and Supporters:
It has been a truly great year of “causing widows hearts to sing with joy.” Adding 2 new employees last spring with the help of a grant awarded to us by the McClellan Family Foundation Funds, has made it possible to help even more widows than in years past. To date we have been able to serve 193 individual widows including those we help on a regular basis with lawn care and the widows who are part of the weekly widow’s prayer ministry. The number of actual projects that we have completed to date is 293 as compared to 226 for all of 2015. Also, to date, we have had 1443 volunteers serve, which is an increase of 18% from 2015.
By way of explanation as to why there are more projects completed than individual widows served is for the simple reason that we record the number of projects separately from the number of widows served. In other words, a single widow might receive help with completing several projects on her home throughout the year. For instance, we may start out painting her house and in the process learn of other needs she has that we will come back and undertake at a later date when we have the resources for purchasing construction materials and the volunteers to do the work.
