The Red Bank Neighborhood Pride Association (RBNPA) is joining forces with Widows Harvest Ministries to celebrate “Causing Our Widows’ Hearts to Sing” Week May 7-15. The purpose of this week is to encourage all citizens to take time to do something special for the widows in their respective communities where they live, worship, work and play. Something special can include: changing a light bulb for her, mowing her lawn, repair a leaky faucet or buying her flowers. The Red Bank Neighborhood Pride Association is encouraging all Red Bank citizens to form a relationship with women who have lost their husbands (regardless of circumstances) by offering potted plants for $8 each to take to the women in their own neighborhoods. The goals are to: a) encourage all to get to know neighbors; b) inform the women of the respective groups; and c) to find out if they need any help that can be provided by Widows Harvest. During that week, the plants will be available for pick-up. Pre-orders are accepted now. Widows Harvest Ministries is a Christian based non-profit service organization based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Responding to the Biblical mandate in James 1:27 to visit the widow in their distress, we have been assisting widows in a number of areas (including home repairs) since 1987. The Executive Director of Widows Harvest quotes, "Never before in the 23 year history of Widows Harvest Ministries has a City demonstrated their care and concern for their widows by committing to insure that none of her widows will suffer from neglect. As part of their commitment, the City of Red Bank is now partnering with Widows Harvest Ministries in order to meet the home repair and lawn care needs of all of Red Banks widowed population. On April 16th, Widows Harvest and several Red Bank area churches will come together for the first time since this new partnership was initiated in order to replace a damaged portion of a widow's roof. Widows Harvest is looking forward to a long and successful relationship with the City of Red Bank that will serve as a model for other cities throughout our State and Nation." For more information on Widows Harvest Ministry, go to www.widows.org. RBNPA Chair Erin Creal urges “all citizens to be good neighbors to the single women in their neighborhoods. We can be a strong community when we take care of those who need help. This project is a perfect fit for our organizations! Who better should be aware of the individuals’ circumstances than their own neighbors? We can reach out a helping hand to let them know they aren’t alone. This is a concept very easy to embrace as most of us have a mother, grandmother, or aunt who needs some extra help.” People who want to participate can email redbanknpa@gmail.org to pre-order their gift. Also, plants will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the Red Bank Jubilee on May 7 in the Red Bank City Park across from Bi Lo. Red Bank Neighborhood Pride Association is a group of volunteers who are residents of Red Bank, TN committed to helping the City be a more desirable place to live. Their community meetings are on the 2nd Monday of every month at the Red Bank Community Center behind Erlanger North. All residents are welcome to attend.
