Joshua writes of his recent visit to Migori prison to visit widows who are inmates there: "When her husband died, all her hopes were gone. She had to find out ways and means to servive, she tried it all including selling illicit brew and even drugs, and that's how widow papanya got into problems with the kenya law which landed her in prison now serving five years if i may recal very well. She was pregant when she was sentenced. She gave birth in prisons to twins. The children now know that prison is there home. An example of what abandoned widows get into. If the church was ready to plead the case of widows, if the family was ready to plead the plight of widows, if the government could be ready to do so, this widow could not have landed in the situation and the children could be home right now. Not only her case touched me, but many more that i saw with children. some had small children and the childen were allowed to be with them in prison. When i saw this i remember our miwani hadrienne, why could not even the church take these children while the mothers are serving in prison? the first church principle has disspeared, where is the true and church pure in james 1. 27 ? slowly going and yet the lord is coming for a pure church soon. were are not going to be tired to take this word even in prison wards and hospital, even in churches, we are ready to be thrown out like of synagogues as they did to our lord after reading the scroll. The last cent i had was used to buy soap for them. They were very happy to receive it. about five received the lord jesus christ as their saviour and this time as their husband. they were consoled. This was migori prison. God bless you all as we serve him. servant joshua"  "Widows Helping Widows" Indoor Sale  Last Saturday, August 7, was the date of the widow's indoor garage sale. All of the widows worked so hard leading up to the sale as well as the day of the sale. They are amazing. They also provided free lunch for everyone there who wanted to eat, hot dogs (with the works if you wanted it that way), chips and a drink. There were also baked goods that many of them made to sell, which sold quite well. By the time the sale was over the widows had raised about $1500. How humbling. Dick Mason's Monthly Projects Report 
Thanks again to our wonderful interns this summer, Peter Graffis and Duncan Keegan. A mistake I would like to correct from the last update, Peter is getting his masters degree at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In the last update I wrote that he wasn't getting it. Obviously, one of my many typos. Widow's Prayer March Tomorrow morning, Saturday, August 14, the prayer widows will be leaving from St Elmo Baptist Church to travel to New Covenant Bible Church in Canton, Georgia, for a prayer luncheon with their widows and many of their members who have come to Chattanooga to serve widows over the last several years. One of the Canton widows, Elsie, went to be with the Lord earlier in the week. She had been a faith part of their widow's prayer ministry for years and I know that during their service tomorrow their will be a great celebration for her home going. Please pray for their safe travels. Financial Update Due to a lot of generous giving over the summer we have been able to keep on target with our monthly expenses. Since the end of July, though, giving has come to a fairly significant halt. Please pray for us as we enter the fall, that we will not fall behind. Right now we are a behind about $4000, but that figure can easily double and triple by mid September.
