Sing Week 2009

Widows Harvest Ministries wants to encourage churches through the greater Chattanooga, TN area to recognize and honor widows in your congregation, as well as across the city, during the week of May 9-16, 2009. Taken from Job 29:13 this week is being called Causing Widow’s Hearts to Sing week in our city, or Widows Sing Week for short.

Beginning May 12, the day before Mother’s day, it is our hope and prayer that widows will be honored by recognizing their plight as a specifically identified group in our churches (especially on Mother’s Day).

“Causing Our Widows’ Hearts to Sing” Week

Purpose

*  Honor widows by recognizing their plight as a specifically identified group in our society

*  Defining who should be legitimately considered a widow by society (any woman who has lost her husband regardless of circumstance)

*  Help to promote and establish a positive image for  widows by recognizing the talents and experience that they themselves have to contribute in their respective communities

*  Honor God by honoring those He has instructed us to care for and thus “Causing their hearts to sing”

*  Become a City that, among other things, is known for it’s care and concern for her widows

Throughout this week Widows Harvest Ministries would, therefore, encourage all of the citizens of Chattanooga to take time to do something special for those widows that you know in our City.  Some suggestions might be to:
